Reigning African Women Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in his Lagos House office, Alausa Ikeja, saharareporterssport.com can confirm.
The Governor, who was in Accra to witness the Aiteo/CAF awards ceremony last Thursday, received the Dalian Quanjian FC striker in his office one week after winning the award.
Reacting on the latest visit, a statement credited to Governor Ambode reads on his official Facebook page. “Third time African Female Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, was our guest at Lagos House, Ikeja. Asisat is a sport ambassador of Lagos and we are proud of her achievements,” the statement reads on Thursday.
Oshoala beat Cameroonian Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene and South Africa’s Chrestina Kgatlana to win the top prize. She previously won the award in 2014 and 2016 respectively. In her debut season in China, the former Liverpool and Arsenal Ladies striker scored 12 goals to emerge top scorer in the Chinese Women League last season. She also helped the club to win both the league and Women’s FA Cup in China.
